Poor Silas survived a house fire, and shortly after his original owner became ill and was no longer able to care for him. That's a lot to deal with! He's inquisitive and independent, and absolutely adorable. He enjoys head massages and pets! In his foster home, he is very communicative, like he definitely has boundaries with petting but he will let you know when you've crossed them. And he will also certainly let you know when he's hungry. In that same regard though, he is kind of a nipper. It's not play-aggression or even limited to when petting but he also nips when he wants food and sometimes even when he wants to be pet. It doesn't strike his foster as anything but bad manners. He sometimes taps you politely with a paw first before nipping! He hasn't broken the skin. Right now, it's one of the ways he communicates, and it's possible this will decrease as he learns that meowing or a paw tap gets better results. His foster thinks he's a wonderful cat regardless. He settled in basically immediately and is generally a lovely little friend. He's just a very opinionated young man and doesn't always have the best manners. He's probably not an ideal cat for kids or a nervous first-time owner, but he more than makes up for any rough edges with the amount of love he has to give. Silas is FIV and FeLV negative, neutered, and up to date on shots. He should be the only cat in the home, and would not do well in a home with children.
