Look into those eyes and your heart sings! Young Lenny, about 2 years old, was living the rough life outdoors, near JFK airport. Maybe it was wanderlust, as he contemplated “leaving on a jet plane.” Instead, he found his way to a compassionate rescuer. Lenny has a wonderful combination of qualities. He can be energetic at times, and loves to swat and chase his toys, but he’s overall a mellow, calm cat. He can be a lap-cat and a lovebug, but he’s not needy. He can be shy until he trusts you (or strangers), yet has then shown himself to be outgoing and social. He likes to be pet, a lot, though he prefers that his lower back and butt be off-limits. He’s friendly with another cat, but would be happy to be the only cat in the home. Lenny is FelV negative, but FIV positive. Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is a lentivirus that affects cats worldwide. FIV is contagious only among cats, and, even between cats, it is difficult to transmit (it typically takes a deep cat bite, not the routine contact of living together.)) Being FIV+ does not mean that the cat is sick – Lenny got a clean bill of health in his vet visit – only that the cat’s compromised immune system can make him more vulnerable to contracting other diseases. But, with a good diet, a purely indoor life, and regular wellness visits, an FIV+ cat can live a healthy, long life. Email [email protected] to apply for Lenny!
